BACKGROUND |
|||
• • • |
We
have until recently been supporting children by paying for food, rent and
salaries This centre has been found to be run by people who were corrupt therefore we decided not to continue with this centre and establish a new and ethically run centre as soon as possible Tanzania is one of the poorest countries in the world: |
||
•
• • • • |
30%
of the population are now living below the WHO poverty line. Many children are orphaned owing to the increasing spread of HIV/AIDS and the ongoing problem of malaria. Nearly 12 in 100 children die before they reach the age of 5. The average life expectancy is under 50 years. About 10% of the population are living with HIV/AIDS and orphan numbers are increasing at an alarming rate. |
