An artist's impression of Tanzania...

STOP PRESS:
Due to the recent discovery of major financial irregularities, we have been left with no choice but to sever connections with the Faraja Centre. The trustees have not taken this decision lightly, but feel it is the only ethical and moral decision possible.

On the news page, there is a statement from our Chair, Helen Ross

Moving forward

We are actively seeking land for purchase, and hope to have more news on this by January 2009, if not before.

Currently, buildings such as these are being used for orphananges...

We are planning a 'show-stopper' of a new facility. It will be a home from home for children like these...

Local materials and labour will be sourced, thereby providing employment and boosting the local economy. We aim to use sustainable materials and energy sources to provide light and clean water whenever possible.

Children like these get little opportunity to play:

Play is little valued or understood in Tanzania.
Play is vital for children's emotional, psychological and physical development.
We aim to open a play centre, train playworkers and involve parents of underprivileged children in play activities.
